What an invention! I've wanted one of these apple peelers/slicers for sometime and now, voila! The perfect tool to make apple crumble!

Thanks for the photo Erica!

Things to do .. Melbourne Aquarium

Today Nannie, The boy and I went to the Aquarium. I wasn't sure if The Boy would get into it (he's only 9 months old) but it was wonderful to see him engaging with the fish, talking to them, waving at them and giggling! Fun on a bun!

Hello! I've missed a few days sorry. I'm actually staying in Melbourne for a week, hanging out with family which has been really lovely! The Boy was wonderful on the plane and I'm loving the sunshine here. So, my posts might be a bit sporadic for the last part of blogtoberfest.

68 days, no really.

Last year I had a good excuse for not being organised for Christmas, uber prego.
This year I'm hoping I'll be a bit more prepared. To lend a helping hand, AmberLee at Giver's Log has made The Ultimate Christmas Countdown. She also has some great gift ideas, check them out here.

My place & yours - On the Shelf

I'm playing along with Pip's meme, over at Meet me at mike's. The idea is 'My Place & Yours, and I'll be playing along each Saturday, want to join in?

This week is 'On the Shelf' and this is my shelf of T2. I love tea, and I'm a sucker for nice packaging, so I have acquired many boxes of T2 tea. I think so far I have 30 of their teas (no att pictured) My favourite is 'botantica' mixed with a little 'turkish apple', mmm, yum. Might go have some now.

I love my sister's suggestion that today should be 'ocTober' for blogtoberfest!

Bachtober - a trip down memory lane

I'm following badskirt's suggestions as part of blogtoberfest and today is Bachtober - classical music. You might remember this as a song in 'Milo and Otis', I could listen to it over and over. Milo and Otis was one of my favourite movies as a little girl, of course I didn't know at the time how many animals were hurt in the making of the film :(

Crumbs, I did it again

Mini Cherry Cheesecakes, originally uploaded by Bakerella.

I mixed up the selfraising and plain flour again! Fortunately, chocolate rum and raisin slice seems to be delicous regardless of my mix-up, yummo!

Above are some tasty looking cheesecake treats, you can find them over at Bakerella

Chalktober

I have a phobia of chalk, chalk dust in particular, even writing about it now is putting my teeth on edge and sending chills up my spine. I have no idea when it started or why.
I love this film clip, except when I watch it I pretend it's paint, not chalk. I'm sure I'm not the only one with an unusual phobia, please, someone, tell me it's not just me!

Breakie with Beci

Yay, I'm off to AGDA's 'Breakie with Beci' tomorrow morning! Beci Orpin is one of my favourite designers, so I am super keen to listen to her talk tomorrow. Afterwards we are having a little crafternoon, I'll be teaching some crochet, Cat Rabbit will be making brooches and Jo is making these.

Walktober

originally uploaded by things to make and do.
While out for a stroll with The Boy today, we happened upon a beautiful drift of forget-me-nots. The rushing water, willows just coming into leaf and the masses of bright blue flowers made me swoon.
We made our daily* pilgrimage to the op-shop down the road, and found this fantastic vintage typewriter. It's in great condition and came with it's original teal vinyl case, you can't argue with $5!

*cough cough

Frocktober

Lotta Jansdotter Simple Sewing for Baby, originally uploaded by the workroom.
Don't get me wrong, I looooove love love my little boy.
But. Little girls dresses are so lovely. I feel my 2 options* are:
A: dress him in a frock anyway.
B: have more babies until I have a little girl.

In my current and seemingly endless lust for books, I trundled along to Fullers and purchased Simple sewing for Baby by Lotta Jansdotter. Absolute joy, it is filled with wonderful projects that aren't too big to tackle. Below is pictured 'Simple Dress', it's cute and has a little pocket.
*ps. I like option B

99, 100!

So, I still haven't located my camera cord. I confess instead of looking for it, I went to the library and got out these two books (Mid-Century Modern by Bradley Quinn and 200 Crochet blocks for blankets, throws and afghans by Jan Eaton). I can't wait to have a lovely long look at them. You can buy them here and here.
Is anyone watching Glee? I am. I loved the line from Finn about the library, which went something along the lines of "did you know you can get books out of the library, I mean for free" I forget this wonderful fact sometimes, go libraries!

1, 2 ... skip a few

Today was meant to be woktober, but, I couldn't come up with anything interesting, so then I thought op-tober (op-shopping) and I've taken some great shots of some of my recent thrifty finds, alas, I can't find the cord which connects my camera to my laptop, so, long story, here is a crochet blanket I've been working on for my cousin's first baby.

Sorry about the fuzzy shot, eek!

Rawk on Rockotober!

My first mixtape. My Dad made this when I was about 5 and I would listen to it over and over (possibly until I was about 12). It includes 'Rock' classics such as Mull of Kintyre and Another One Bites the Dust. I love it, I only wish I could listen to it right now! Damn digital age.

Making mixtapes is an art. I would write down perfect playlists and wait hours listening to the radio to tape them in order. Some might call this anal, I call it awesome.
